Harbaugh to the Niners

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh is expected to agree to a 5 year deal worth $25 million to coach the San Francisco 49ers. This comes as somewhat of a surprise as Stanford QB Andrew Luck said yesterday that he would be returning to Stanford next year. Luck said that his decision to stay in school or enter the draft would somewhat depend on what coach Harbaugh decides to do, but obviously those two were not on the same page. Harbaugh will stay in the Bay Area and try to return the 49ers back to their glory days.

Somewhat surprising that he didn’t go for the $8-9million a year Miami was offering him, especially since they have a much better roster. But then again it wasn’t because it was smartest to stay close to home and get to coach in the most winnable conference of all time.

I actually think the Niners don’t have that bad of a roster. They have weapons on offense in Gore, Davis, Crabtree, Morgan, and Ginn. Defensively they are very young and have who I think is the best linebacker in the league in Patrick Willis. Like you said, their division is up in the air every year and if Harbaugh can get through to Alex Smith then I think the 49ers could definitely be in the hunt for the NFC West division crown next year.
