NFL Week 15 Predictions

December 17, 2011 1 comment

My picks to win are in bold.

Note: The Thursday night game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons has been excluded.

Week 15

Dallas Cowboys @ Tampa Bay Bucs

Bucs are coming off a drubbing by the Jaguars of all teams! Boys need this win badly.

Washington Redskins @ New York Giants

G-Men are coming off of an emotional victory in Dallas. They need this game to hold onto first place.

Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills

Bills are on a 6 game skid and the Dolphins should come out fired up and yearning for a win for their new coach.

Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears

Bears are in disarray, while the Seahawks and Marshawn Lynch have been playing quality football.

Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts

Divisional matchup so anything can happen, but I can’t pick the winless Colts.

Green Bay Packers @ Kansas City Chiefs

Could be a trap game for the Packers, but I don’t think Aaron Rodgers will let the Pack suffer a letdown.

Cincinnati Bengals @ St. Louis Rams

Bengals are great against teams below .500, not so much against teams above .500.

New Orleans Saints @ Minnesota Vikings

Saints should put a ton of points on the board against a shaky secondary. Plus, their playing indoors.

Carolina Panthers @ Houston Texans

Texans have been winning despite the injuries, while Panthers consistently blow leads.

Detroit Lions @ Oakland Raiders

Carson Palmer has thrown 5 interceptions in the last two games, both losses.

New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos

Should be a good game but Tom Brady and the Patriots offense will prove to be too much for Tebow in the end.

New York Jets @ Philadelphia Eagles

Great game against two teams fighting for their playoff lives. Eagles win because their at home and because of Mike Vick.

Cleveland Browns @ Arizona Cardinals

Cardinals are on a roll recently, plus Colt McCoy is out.

Baltimore Ravens @ San Diego Chargers

Chargers have won two in a row, but Ravens usually come to play against above average teams.

What We Learned: NFL Week 13

December 7, 2011 1 comment

AFC East

New York Jets – Opened it up in the 4th quarter. Much needed victory.

New England Patriots – Had a little more trouble with the Colts than anyone expected but a win is a win and their in the driver’s seat.

Buffalo Bills – Have now lost 5 in a row since Fitzpatrick’s extension.

Miami Dolphins – Look like a buzz-saw as they have won 4 or their last 5 games.

AFC West

Denver Broncos – Tebow and the Broncos complete another second half comeback and find themselves atop the AFC West.

Kansas City Chiefs – A Hail Mary touchdown pass at the end of the first half proved to be the game winner, who would have guessed that.

Oakland Raiders – Terrible performance in Miami and lost their grasp on the division in the process.

San Diego Chargers – Finally, a win!

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens – Stop everything, they avoided a letdown!

Pittsburgh Steelers – Looking more and more like the Steelers of old as the season progresses.

Cleveland Browns – Someone needs to tell the receivers that they have to actually catch and hold onto the ball.

Cincinnati Bengals – Showed their youth and inexperience against the pride of the AFC North.

AFC South

Houston Texans – Great win against a quality opponent. Hopefully Andre Johnson isn’t hurt too seriously though.

Indianapolis Colts – Great effort down the stretch but a winless season looks to be inevitable.

Tennessee Titans – CJ finally put up back to back fantastic performances, look out for the Titans.

Jacksonville Jaguars – New coach same old result.

NFC East

New York Giants – Valiant effort but fell just short.

Dallas Cowboys – That clock mismanagement sums up the Cowboys over the past decade. Why didn’t they call a timeout after the Dez Bryant catch and why are you icing your own kicker?!

Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles are officially done after that performance…pathetic.

Washington Redskins – Played well for 3 quarters, too bad the game lasts 4.

NFC West

San Francisco 49ers – Another dominating win against an inferior opponent, no letdowns.

St. Louis Rams – Um, yea…

Arizona Cardinals – Defense is much improved and Kolb is back. Look like a playoff team’s worst nightmare.

Seattle Seahawks – I would not want to play the Seahawks looking at the way Marshawn Lynch is playing right now, beast mode.

NFC North

Chicago Bears – First Jay Cutler, now Matt Forte. The Bears playoff chances just took a major hit.

Green Bay Packers – Barely cleared their last hurdle and should cruise to an undefeated record.

Detroit Lions – Lost 2 in a row but favorable schedule the rest of the way with the exception of the Packers.

Minnesota Vikings – Percy Harvin was sensational but Ponder made a critical mistake in crunch time.

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons – Horrible loss against a Schaub-less Texans squad. Extremely inconsistent.

New Orleans Saints – Scary, scary, scary!…at home. We’ll see what they look like outside in January.

Tampa Bay Bucs – Haven’t been winning with Freeman, definitely not going to win without him.

Carolina Panthers – Cam looks like a seasoned vet. He’s gonna be gooooood!

My picks to win are in bold.

Note: The Thursday night game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks has been excluded.

Week 13

Tennessee Titans @ Buffalo Bills

CJ finally has back to back 100+ yard games.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Chicago Bears

I like the Bears defense against a new quarterback in Kyle Orton learning a new system.

Oakland Raiders @ Miami Dolphins

Black and Silver are 4-1 on the road this season and need this win with Green Bay and Detroit upcoming.

Denver Broncos @ Minnesota Vikings

AP is out, and you can’t bet against Tebow right now.

Indianapolis Colts @ New England Patriots

This will be an absolute smack-fest.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers

I love the future for the young Bengals, but they’re just not ready yet.

Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Bucs

Bucs are giving up 140 ypg and 5.1 ypc this season. Expect Newton, Williams, and Stewart to pound the rock.

New York Jets @ Washington Redskins

This is a MUST win for the Jets if they have any hopes of making the playoffs.

Atlanta Falcons @ Houston Texans

Falcons post the league’s best rush defense and that’s all the Texans have now that TJ Yates is under center.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns

Ravens have won 6 in a row against the Browns.

Dallas Cowboys @ Arizona Cardinals

Romo and the Boys have won 4 in a row and should make it 5 against another inferior opponent.

St. Louis Rams @ San Francisco 49ers

Niners should have no problem here.

Detroit Lions @ New Orleans Saints

Saints are almost impossible to defeat at home.

Green Bay Packers @ New York Giants

Giants are without Osi and just got lit up by the Saints.

San Diego Chargers @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Toss up here.

Buffalo Bills – Fitzpatrick and the Bills are 0-4 since his contract extension.

Miami Dolphins – Another close, tough loss. Read more…

My picks to win are in bold.

Note: The Thursday night game between the New York Jets and Denver Broncos has been excluded…Tebow = WINNER!

Week 12

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions

Should be a great game, but how can you pick against the Packers.

Miami Dolphins @ Dallas Cowboys

Dolphins are hot, but Cowboys usually play well on Thanksgiving.

San Francisco 49ers @ Baltimore Ravens

Niners are treaveling east on a short week, but the Ravens are too inconsistent to trust.

Minnesota Vikings @ Atlanta Falcons

Falcons should win easily as the Vikings will probably be without AP.

Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals snap their 2 game losing streak and pound the offensively-inept Browns.

Tampa Bay Bucs @ Tennessee Titans

I like the Bucs more than I do the Hasselbeck-less Titans.

Carolina Panthers @ Indianapolis Colts

Panthers by default.

Arizona Cardinals @ St. Louis Rams

Cardinals’ quarterback situation is in shambles.

Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets

Bills are struggling and just lost Fred Jackson for the season, plus the Jets are desperate for a win.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars

The running game and defense should be more than enough to beat the Jags.

Chicago Bears @ Oakland Raiders

Gotta go with the Raiders at home with Caleb Hanie starting at quarterback for the Bears.

Washington Redskins @ Seattle Seahawks

Not gonna let the Seahawks burn me again.

New England Patriots @ Philadelphia Eagles

Vince Young can’t keep up with Tom Brady.

Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers

Chargers have lost 5 in a row, plus you can’t bet against Tebow.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Kansas City Chiefs

Chiefs picked up Orton, but I don’t think he’ll start this week.

New York Giants @ New Orleans Saints

Saints are virtually impossible to beat at home.

AFC East

New York Jets – Sanchez can’t complete a pass if his first option isn’t open, the defense can’t stop a quarterback who they know is going to run, and Rex Ryan is cursing at fans. Jets are in big trouble.

New England Patriots – Despite the revolving door in the secondary the defense continues to progress.

Buffalo Bills – Fitzpatrick and the Bills are 0-4 since his contract extension.

Miami Dolphins – 3 in a row. Told you the Fins weren’t as bad as their record said they were. Read more…

Week 11

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

Mike Vick and Jeremy Maclin out, Vince Young in. Giants should be able to take advantage.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Cleveland Browns

Jags are bad, Browns are worse.

Carolina Panthers @ Detroit Lions

Stafford has struggled lately, but they NEED a win.

Tampa Bay Bucs @ Green Bay Packers

Can’t pick against the cheese-heads.

Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins

Dolphins have won 2 in a row and Bills have lost 2 in a row.

Oakland Raiders @ Minnesota Vikings

Raiders ground game should make the difference.

Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins

Boys are on a roll, have to take advantage of a weak upcoming schedule.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens

Ravens play well against good teams.

Seattle Seahawks @ St. Louis Rams

Toss up. I’ll give the edge to the home team.

Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers

Niners are too focused and well-coached to have a letdown.

Tennessee Titans @ Atlanta Falcons

CJ vs. the Burner. Edge goes to the Burner.

San Diego Chargers @ Chicago Bears

Bears defense will feast off of Rivers’ poor decision making.

Kansas City Chiefs @ New England Patriots

Two words: Tyler Palko.

I’m switching up the format of “What We Learned” so I can include every single NFL team instead of just a few.

AFC East

New York Jets – Soooo, about that Rex Ryan defense…

New England Patriots – Two words, vintage Brady.

Buffalo Bills – David Nelson’s touchdown catch and celebration with his cheerleader girlfriend was by far the highlight for the Bills.

Miami Dolphins – Two in a row! I like their chances to make it 3 at home against the sputtering Bills. Read more…

Week 10

New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers

Tough game but Giants offense will be the difference.

New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons

Saints struggle on the road and Falcons have finally gone back to the run.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals

Andy Dalton has played well, but he hasn’t faced a defense like the Steelers yet.

St. Louis Rams @ Cleveland Browns

Browns are horrendous on offense. Steven Jackson and Brandon Lloyd should have huge games.

Buffalo Bills @ Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys are without Miles Austin, and Bills want revenge after suffering a beatdown at home.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts

MJD should run for miles.

Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs

Tebow will find a way to get the dubb.

Washington Redskins @ Miami Dolphins

Dolphins aren’t as bad as their record says they are.

Arizona Cardinals @ Philadelphia Eagles

No DeSean Jackson but this is a must win.

Houston Texans @ Tampa Bay Bucs

Gerald McCoy is out for the season. Not good against the league’s best rushing attack.

Tennessee Titans @ Carolina Panthers

Chris Johnson has been nonexistent.

Baltimore Ravens @ Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks commit too many turnovers.

Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears

Bears are playing tremendously on both sides of the ball.

New England Patriots @ New York Jets

Tom Brady is 0-2 on the road against Rex Ryan’s Jets.

Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers

Should be a shootout, but Vikings can’t hang with Rodgers and co.

No More Sympathy for Joe Paterno!

November 10, 2011 1 comment

I’m gonna keep this short and sweet. I go to school at York College of Pennsylvania so needless to say I’m surrounded by Penn State enthusiasts and even more so, Joe Paterno supporters. Here’s the deal. Jerry Sandusky committed some awful crimes against children while both on and off Joe Paterno’s coaching staff. He committed these crimes on the campus of Penn State and within the football facilities. Mike McQueary witnessed these wrongdoings and told Paterno, who then went to the AD. Legally, that’s all JoePa needed to do, but morally that’s a totally different story. Read more…

Eli Manning

As a Giants fan, I was obviously elated when my G-Men went into Foxboro and took down the mighty Patriots. Eli Manning outplayed Tom Brady and justified his pre-season elite quarterback status claims as he led the offense on an 8 play 80 yard game winning drive with only 1:30 left on the clock. The drive culminated in a Jake Ballard touchdown, and the Giants won 24-20. Read more…

Bye Week Teams: Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 9

New York Giants @ New England Patriots

Giants should be able to get to Brady, but the Patriots always find a way to win at home.

New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills

Jets are 0-3 on the road. Bills are 4-0 at home.

Seattle Seahawks @ Dallas Cowboys

Romo and the passing game should return to form against a horrible secondary.

Atlanta Falcons @ Indianapolis Colts

Really…

Miami Dolphins @ Kansas City Chiefs

Dolphins play tough but don’t now how to finish games. Chiefs keep rolling.

Tampa Bay Bucs @ New Orleans Saints

Saints get back on track at the Superdome after a shocking defeat against the Rams.

San Francisco 49ers @ Washington Redskins

Redskins are falling apart, cough Mike Shanahan cough, and Jim Harbaugh has the 49ers playing inspired football.

Cleveland Browns @ Houston Texans

Peyton Hillis is out once again. Arian Foster should have another career day.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Tennessee Titans

Cedric Benson returns from suspension and Bengals defense is stout.

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

I’m sticking my neck out once again. Tebow will outplay Palmer.

St. Louis Rams @ Arizona Cardinals

Bradford should be back and Steven Jackson is healthy again.

Green Bay Packers @ San Diego Chargers

Chargers are way too unpredictable and Rivers has been off his game.

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Ravens have struggled recently and Steelers seek revenge.

Chicago Bears @ Philadelphia Eagles

This is a tough one. but I’ll take the resurgent Eagles at home.

LeSean McCoy

Shady put on a show on Sunday Night Football, rushing for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns against the league’s number one rush defense. McCoy is making a strong case to be mentioned among the NFL’s elite running backs. He ranks second in terms of rushing yards with 754 and is as explosive with the ball in his hands as anyone in the NFL. Shady McCoy is doing it all and it’s just a matter of time before he’s mentioned in the same sentence with the like of Adrian Peterson. Read more…
